What do you think about all these upsets in March Madness? I never would have expected every single person’s bracket would be eliminated in the round of 32.
It’s great! There’s no way anyone is filling out a perfect bracket anyone. The more anarchy, the better. It makes for some bad “third” round match ups, but who doesn’t want to see the nerds (Harvard and Stanford) win?
Do you know how unlikely it is to fill out a perfect bracket? Has it ever been done before? I don’t follow basketball much so I am enjoying reading your blog and learning!
The official number is 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 but that is if all match ups are equal, which they are not. You can safely assume all 1-seeds win their first game against the 16-seeds so that helps us out a bit to get us down to 1 in 576,460,752,303,423,488. Or if it’s easier to think about it this way: 2 to the 59th power.
